My 2002 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130bhp had the following problem: Occasional loss of power while driving (flashing glow plug light while coasting to a stop) Sometimes starts first time after power loss. Sometimes it could take 5 to 10 minutes for it to start. If it doesn't start then the glow plug light will be flashing.
Here is a brief guide for those of you who want to do your own servicing on the 2.2 175PS Q4BA engine fitted to the MK4 Mondeo. As my MK4 has reached 42k miles and is now out of warranty I didn't bother with using Ford parts and used parts from a motor factors (Camberley Auto Factors) I did insist on Delphi brake discs & pads as cheaper
To your main question yes we probably change fuel filters too often but i for one will continue. Diesel fuel filters, changed too often? - DP. A genuine Ford/Motorcraft diesel filter for the Mondeo is ยฃ2.75 including the VAT, and takes 5 mins to change.
I have blocked the T connector on the filter also where it goes into the filter but still no joy. I have put a clear pipe between the filter and pump and fuel is being pumped on crank. in addition to the fault codes above I have had 2 more today:-P1608 - Watchdog Malfunction P0221 - Throttle/pedal position/switch B circuit range/performance
mk6 2.0 tdci fuel pump. by ned ยป Mon Jan 25, 2016 11:52 pm. Hello to all, I suspect my fuel pump is goosed fault code reading low pressure on crank and while running and fuel metering unit fault, going to change fuel filter but think its going to be filled with swarf and other muck from fuel tank (put petrol in a few months ago didn't start
The 1.8 TDCi doesn't have a "lift" pump in the tank so if there is anything more than the tiniest amount of air within the fuel system it won't pump fuel. The main area of possible weakness I found was that the rubber seal that sits with the fuel filter itself (within the steel fuel filter casing) is easy to not site properly when fitting the
Qvlxx. Time to change the diesel filter on the S-Max. Straight forward job, but if you are not comfortable doing it, I suggest maybe leaving it to a mechanic#diycar

can anyone tell me how to change the fuel filter on the 2L tdci? I know it's probably obvious, but it looks quite awkward.Do you need to unclip the fuel lines from the top of the filter or does the filter just unscrew from the bottom?
So, if you bought, say, half a tank of hole-in-the-ground fuel (not that you can normally get 100% hole-in-the-ground stuff, these days) with hole-in-the-ground compatible additives, and filled up with high-bio fuel, the additives could turn to a gel and that could block the fuel filter.

There's no lying upside down attempting to screw on a housing full of fuel while your strength and balance is tested as it dribbles down the sleeve.
Push the pipes back on firmly and pop the clip back in place. Start the engine and hold the revs at around 1500-2000rpm for a minute or 2. The engine might have a slight murmur for a second but nothing to worry about. After this take the car for a spin and cut out and restart the engine to be sure all is well.
